About UX Camp Europe

We are one the of the largest BarCamps for User Experience Professionals with 500+ active participants from all over the world and meet in Berlin once a year.

The event is held since 2009, planned by a team of local UX enthusiasts and
run during the weekend by all our participants.

What's a BarCamp anyway?

We are in Germany so we love rules – these are the international Rules of BarCamp we like to share and remind our participants of. Please remember we are big but still a BarCamp at heart, not a traditional conference.

BarCamp is an ad-hoc unconference born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos and interaction from attendees.

Anyone with something to contribute or with the desire to learn is welcome and invited to join.

When you come, be prepared to share with barcampers.
When you leave, be prepared to share it with the world.

NO SPECTATORS, ONLY PARTICIPANTS

Attendees must give a demo, a session, or help with one, or otherwise volunteer / contribute in some way to support the event.

All presentations are scheduled the day they happen. Prepare in advance, but come early to get a slot on the wall. The people present at the event will select the demos or presentations they want to see.

Presenters are responsible for making sure that notes/slides/audio/video of their presentations are published on the web for the benefit of all and those who can’t be present.

What exactly is a session?

The 45-minute sessions are at the core of every BarCamp and provide ample time for presenting a short talk, discussing new ideas or sharing case studies followed up by an open discussion.

Every UX Camp Europe participant is strongly encouraged to facilitate a session on his/her own or as a small team.

We really mean every participant – so don’t be shy and follow our 10 tips for a great session  (number 7 will blow you away!) if you’ve never held a session before or want to polish your presentation and pitching skills.

Where the magic happens

Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin
Erwin Schrödinger-Zentrum
Rudower Chaussee 26, 12489 Berlin

The main venue is 10 min walk from the S-Bahn station Adlershof (S8/S9/S45/S46 and S85).

It’s very close to Schönefeld Airport, really far from Tegel Airport and literally “out in the sticks” so we highly recommend adding a few days if you are also after some sightseeing.

The BVG Journey planner is the best place to check your travel options and if you are so inclined there is of course also an Android or iOS App for that.

What else do you need to know?

It’s all a bit incremental, MVP, bla-di-bla – we’re sure you know the score :)

Oh, and just in case you wondered who’s behind UX Camp Europe – that’s us over here. Give us a hug, buy us a drink or [Lorem Ipsum].
