Our designers at ERGOSIGN face certain limitations with existing design tools in their daily life, which are probably familiar to all of you.
Tools such as Photoshop, Omnigraffle and wireframing tools obviously offer great potential in certain steps of the design lifecycle. But mostly it is the transition between those steps, e.g. from wireframing to visual design, that often forces designers to change tools, e.g. from Balsamiq to Photoshop, and start from scratch. Surely one could use Expression Blend, but this entails many technical constraints, requires a lot of technical knowlegde and is only reasonable for WPF or Silverlight projects, due to the reusability of the prototype. …and last but not least, it doesn't run on a Mac ![]()
This situation led us to writing our own prototyping tool, that will address these issues in an easy way.
After many suggestions from clients, that saw the first betas, we decided to release ANTETYPE as a publicly available product.
Right now we have a stable version, which is not perfect or complete in terms of features. Nevertheless we have successfully started to use it in real life projects and will release it very soon in a a free private beta test.
The reason for this imminent release is that we want to incorporate as much feedback as possible from you, the real users, in this agile development process.
At UXcamp2010 we would love to...
- show you the current build
- openly discuss problems or feature requests you see
- let you sign up for the private beta
... to shape ANTETYPE into a tool, which will optimize not only our but everybody's design process in this community.
