UXCAMP EUROPE GOES GLOBAL WITH FREE 24-HOUR ONLINE UNCONFERENCE

THE first ever global unconference for the User Experience community will be hosted as a free 24-hour-long online event by UXcamp Europe on June 5 and 6.

Following the rules of a BarCamp, any participant is invited to contribute their own UX-related sessions to the schedule on the day of the event.

Not being limited by physical space, the usually quickly sold-out UXcamp Europe will now be open to more than 1000 participants from all countries to share their knowledge and experience.

Co-initiator of UXcamp Europe, Volker Gersabeck, says: “With the new remote-first format we want to bring the festival-like character of the regular UXcamp into this online event. We have space for experiments and spontaneous sessions on any topic, just as we had every year in Berlin.

“We saw our community getting very professional in working remotely during the past 12 months and now the vast majority of them told us that they are looking forward to meeting their fellow UX enthusiasts in an online event.”

On June 5 at 3pm Berlin time (9am in New York and 11pm in Sydney) UXcamp Europe is being kicked off by the organizing team by presenting the schedule of sessions for the following 24 hours. Every session host adds a short description of their session and a link how people can join it to the online session board just before the camp starts.

Just like with the regular offline UXcamp, there will be about 10 different sessions starting every full hour and participants can choose which one they want to attend. With the inclusive character of the BarCamp, discussions, knowledge sharing, and networking are at the core of each session.

Peter Boersma, UX practitioner since 1995 from the Netherlands, recommends: “UXcamp Europe is such a great event to join every year that I decided to join the UXcamp Amsterdam team to support our local UX community.”
