What is a BarCamp anyway?

As a BarCamp we follow the international Rules of BarCamp which we like to share and remind our participants of. Please remember we are big but still a BarCamp at heart, not a commercial conference.

BarCamp is an ad-hoc unconference born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with talk, discussions, and workshops from attendees.

Anyone with something to contribute or with the desire to learn is welcome and invited to join.

When you come, be prepared to share with barcampers. When you leave, be prepared to share it with the world.

NO SPECTATORS, ONLY PARTICIPANTS

Attendees must hold a session, or help with one, or otherwise volunteer or contribute in some way to support the event.

All presentations are scheduled the day they happen. Prepare in advance, but come early to get a slot on the session wall. The people present at the event will select the session they want to see.

Presenters are encouraged to make sure that notes/slides/audio/video of their presentations are published on the web for the benefit of all and those who can’t be present.

Towards a More Sustainable UXcamp Europe

Since UXcamp Europe 2019, we have been actively working to reduce the ecological footprint of our conference. While we have made significant progress, we recognize that there is still much more to do to create a truly sustainable conference experience.

For the 2024 and 2025 conferences, we aligned our efforts with the BMU/UBA guidelines for sustainable event management and received funding from the city of Berlin to support this successful implementation. This commitment is part of our ongoing dedication to creating a more responsible and eco-conscious event.

Our initiatives so far include providing DB event tickets, offering vegetarian catering, selecting sustainable venues, utilizing digital communication with participants, engaging local service providers, and using eco-friendly products.

Our motto, your shirt

This year we’re not able to create t-shirts for everybody, but we still want to give you the opportunity. We created a design you can download and print on your own shirt (or bag, hoodie, cap, button, you name it).
